Registering for kindergarten in St Arnaud provides families with a simple way to apply for a 3-Year-Old Kindergarten or 4-Year-Old Kindergarten place for their child/ren.

The registration process ensures all eligible children are considered fairly and consistently, following family preferences and the Victorian Government's Priority of Access guidelines.

Please note, there is no advantage to registering on the first day applications open. All registrations are processed in line with the Victorian Government’s Priority of Access criteria.

A child must be three or four years old on or before 30 April in the year they are due to attend kindergarten.

Priority of Access

The Victorian Government’s Priority of Access (PoA) policy helps decide the order in which places are offered when a kindergarten program receives more applications than places available.
Priority is first given to eligible children and families under the Priority of Access criteria regardless of where they live, which supports children who may need extra support to access kindergarten.
This includes:
- children whose family identify as Aboriginal
- children at risk of abuse or neglect
- children from refugee and asylum seeker families
- children and/or families holding concession cards
- children and/or families with additional needs
- children accessing an additional year of Three- or Four-Year-Old Kindergarten.
